Backend Tech Lead

We are looking for a Backend Tech Lead who will take ownership of the technical development of our backend domain, help strengthen the team’s engineering culture, and influence the architecture of the company’s key products.

What you will be doing:

• Own the technical development of the backend domain: make key technical decisions and define the direction of the architecture
• Drive the adoption of AI in backend engineering: use AI agents and tools in the team’s day-to-day work, tailor them to engineering tasks, and build AI-powered workflows that accelerate development, improve solution quality, and increase delivery efficiency
• Design and develop backend services for our platform using Node.js (Koa, NestJS)
• Shape the architecture of new components and improve existing solutions with performance, reliability, and development speed in mind
• Improve backend integration with frontend, as well as internal and external services
• Establish technical standards across the team: development practices, code review, testing, code quality, and documentation
• Participate in breaking down and refining complex technical challenges together with the team and cross-functional stakeholders
• Identify technical limitations and bottlenecks within the platform, prioritize technical debt, and drive systemic improvements
• Grow the backend team: mentor engineers, conduct technical interviews, participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews

What we expect from you:

• 2+ years of experience in a Backend Tech Lead role
• Hands-on experience building AI-native / AI-augmented engineering workflows: using AI agents, designing multi-step AI processes, and integrating AI into the team’s everyday development workflows
• Strong commercial backend development experience with Node.js
• Excellent knowledge of TypeScript
• Practical experience with NestJS / Koa / Express
• Experience designing backend system architecture and making technical decisions
• Strong understanding of SQL / NoSQL databases and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis
• Experience working with distributed asynchronous systems and message brokers (RabbitMQ or similar)
• Solid understanding of GraphQL and/or REST APIs
• Experience with code review, mentoring, and developing engineering practices within a team
• Fluent Russian
